Bataan Memorial Death March

This past weekend I competed in the Bataan Memorial Death March: A 26.2 mile march with a 35lb+ ruck in White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. Their website describes the event this way:

"The Bataan Memorial Death March is a challenging march  through the high desert terrain of White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, conducted in honor of the heroic service members who defended the Philippine Islands during World War II, sacrificing their freedom, health and, in many cases, their very lives."

Dividend Portfolio Analysis: Part 1

When I updated my 'Portfolio' tab for the month of march, I also mentioned that I would do an in depth analysis of my Dividend Income Portfolio. From that assertion, this series was born.
             For this post, I will address some overall details of my portfolio - my current holdings, some 'macro'-level highlights, and will then spend the rest of the article addressing my portfolio's Diversification.

Top 20 Stocks Watchlist!

In two days, 23 MARCH, I will add a new page to DividendPartisan entitled: Top 20 Stocks Watchlist.  These are the companies I believe every serious dividend investor should at least consider, if not actually own in their income portfolio.

The list will be updated quarterly, or as appropriate based on the individual companies and the current market situation.  Obviously, if I company cuts its dividend, for example, it will immediately be removed from the list.

There may be follow-on posts as to the criteria I used to create the list as well as why each company made the list if time permits.

In the end, I hope this list generates some quality discussion and perhaps provide several ideas for where to invest next.

Check back on 23 March and add your coments.  Thanks for reading,

DivPartisan

New Series: "My Dividend Portfolio Analysis"

Now that DividendPartisan has been in operation for over two months, I feel it is time to take an in depth look at my Dividend Income Portfolio.
         I would like to remind my readers that this is my actual 'real-life' portfolio; one that my wife and I have invested our hard-earned money into.  That said, it would be foolish not to take the necessary time to evaluate our current position and plan for the way ahead.  I welcome any comments or advice.

Procter and Gamble - The Ultimate Dividend Stock?

The recent recession hurt Procter and Gamble - earnings dropped 5% in fiscal year 2010, and it hasn't performed well in the most recent quarter either (another 7% decrease in earnings). Nonetheless, P&G can still do well as the economy regains momentum and as they focus on international growth. Combine that with its current dividend yield and dividend history, and a forward PE ratio of 14.4 and P&G appears to be one of the better dividend plays available.

Monthly Progress Review: January and February

It is time for my Monthly Progress Review of January and February.

Since I created the site in the middle of January 2011 and did not provide an assessment at the end of the month, this update will cover both January and February.  Listed below is a summary of the dividends I received and the purchases I made for these two months:

Dividend Portfolio Update: March

At the start of each month I update my Portfolio highlighting the following:
     * Current holdings
     * Each holding's respective % of my portfolio
     * Each holding's % of total income
     * This month I have added each company's current yield as well.

See an updated list here for the month of March, or click on the 'Portfolio' Tab above.

Later this week I will post a Portfolio ‘Progress Update’ for the months of January and February showing my income received as well as any purchases made.

That’s all for now,
